Tony Elumelu is one of Nigeria’s progressive minds in terms of developmental and strategic thinking to move Nigeria and by extension Africa forward.
Tony Elumelu was the former CEO of the United Bank for Africa Group (UBA) and presently is the Chairman of Heirs Holdings Limited,a principal investment company, which recently acquired the Ughelli Power Plant during the privatization exercise of major power distribution plants across Nigeria.
A staunch believer in the potentials that abound on the African continent, he is an advocate of the economic mindset – Afri -Capitalism which calls for empowerment of Africans with the view that Africa can only be developed by Africans themselves and not through aids and handouts from developed nations.
It is time to develop an environment that creates employment and value, catalysts for economic growth and quality-of-life gains for all Africans.
Nobody is going to develop Africa except us.
Today we may appear young and people may not believe in us , but we are going to compel them to believe in us through our achievement.
Charity and aid have failed Africa and its leading entrepreneurs are now driving the continent’s development agenda.
Only in Nigeria is our story even possible.
